Sarolea's Family Tree

The Sarolea Heritage of Minou Bartholomew's Family

Marie Antoinette Sarolea (Minou) married Ian Bartholomew on 22 May 1920 in Hasselt, Belgium. All Ian's descendents are hence also descended from this extensive Sarolea family of Belgium.  The family traces it's history back to Hedelinus de Sarolea who died in Warsage, Belgium in 1627.

The family name comes from a village (rather a hamlet) Sarolay, above the valley of the Meuse near Visé, just before the river enters the Netherlands at Maastricht.

The family name is quite common in the lower valley of the Meuse (Maas in Holland), from the suburbs of Liège downstream to Nymegen.

Minou Bartholomew (1898-1972)

wife of Ian Bartholomew
